On April 1, the Bucha town near Kyiv was liberated from Russian occupants. The streets are full of dead civilians and burned-out cars and tanks.
According to BBC News, the town’s mayor Anatolii Fedoruk reported 20 dead bodies on street pavements and roads, plus 280 mass graves. More corpses can be found inside yards and destroyed cars and buildings after town shelling. All the civilians were tortured – some had their hands bound and shots in the back of the head.
Ukrainian authorities charged Russian forces with a “deliberate massacre” and reported hundreds more abandoned civilians’ corpses in recaptured towns close to Kyiv.
The Russian government denied its involvement in the Bucha killings and called them “provocation by Ukrainian radicals.” The authorities insisted on an immediate meeting with the UN Security Council to investigate the so-called “provocation”.
