Texas Oil Giant Charged Democrat With Defamation of Power Grid Policy

Kelcy Warren has filed a defamation case against Democratic candidate Beto O’Rourke on earning profit from February 2021 storms in Texas.

O’Rourke criticized his political opponent from Republicans Greg Abbott and several energy companies for generating income on the mass outage in Texas after the winter storm in 2021.

In response to accusations, O’Rourke said that he “won’t back down from seeking justice.” During his election campaign against Republicans, O’Rourke mentioned the power outage across Texas in February 2021. As stated in the report, Texans were left without water and heating. Plus, hundreds of them died.
Bloomberg mentioned that Warren’s Energy Transfer company had made $2.4 billion when the demand for gas had increased after the storm. Later, Warren paid $1 million for Abbott’s reelection campaign.
