United States Code

Current version of US Code

Unlike other types of legal systems, where codes are the basis for the development and development of new law, in the United States at the federal level is, in fact, the consolidation of precedents, rather than the creation of new rules – like US code

Specific laws for states and also for federal level are created. There are official and private collections covering federal or state law – Revised Laws, Consolidated Laws, United States Code Annotated. However, all vaults and groups are not codes in the French sense of the word. From a technical point of view, the issues set out, in alphabetical order, significantly distinguish them from European codes. The main thing: they have another goal – to classify American laws (federal or individual states), leaving aside the common law.

One of the most important examples of this codification is the annual edition of the US Code and Statutes for example. This collection contains all the laws, court rulings, precedents, and practices that have been passed by Congress and codified into 51 groups. Each such group covers the laws and precedents of this particular issue – from public law to the budget, which is updated every year. Here you can read the US Code of any year, including, in an accessible electronic form, and also receive annotations and comments from our editors.
